Direct entry captain positions are available at Ryanair although successful candidates will need to show experience with at least 3500 flying hours of which 800 hours must be PIC.
When it comes to promotions then Ryanair lives in the fast lane. It is one of the fastest airlines for upgrading first officers to in command positions. It is possible and realistic to gain your command within 3 years at Ryanair.
Ryanair is one of the best airlines for hour building. Pilots can expect to fly up to 900 hours a year. Pilots can sometimes fly up to 100 hours per calender month meaning pilots can fly 900 hours well within the calender year.
Ryanair's vast route network across Europe ensures a pilot's flying schedule will include short quick turn around sectors to various different airports. The airline holds numerous bases across Europe which provides greater flexibility when it comes to location preferences.
The airline operates a 5 days on 4 days off roster system which is designed to reduce pilot fatigue and provides a good work life balance. Rosters are drawn up one month in advance which allows pilots sufficient notice. There is also no planned night stopovers at Ryanair, you will finish your day where you started it.
Ryanair is an excellent airline for young in-experienced pilots. You will build your hours very quickly with Ryanair with the opportunity to gain your command very quickly. Although to fly for Ryanair you have to be very dedicated and level headed, as Ryanair will push you to your limits with its demanding schedules and low cost philosophy.
