To command an aeroplane each pilot needs to obtain a basic flying licence. There are
several levels of licences on offer in which the NPPL and the most advanced is the ATPL.
Each level is accompanied with varying difficulty and privelages.
Additonally a pilot has the option to complete various ratings. A rating is not a
licence but enables a pilot more flying privelages on their current licence. Ratings
may provide a pilot access to night flying, aerobatic flying, multi-engine flying to
name a few.
