Multi-Engine Rating

A multi-engine rating allows a PPL holder to fly aircraft with more than one engine.

Availability

You must have a PPL with 70 hours logged as pilot-in-command to train for a multi-engine rating.

The Course

6 hours dual flying time is required to obtain a multi-engine rating. A flight test lasting 1 hour will follow, before the student can be awarded the rating.

The syllabus will include:

  • the operation of both engines simultaneously
  • operating the aircraft with only one engine running
  • aircraft stalls
  • and typical operating procedures.

Cost

Expect to pay between £2000 - £2500 to acquire the rating at today's market rate.
