Once you have a PPL you may take a Night Rating which will allow you to fly during night fall.
The Night Rating is a popular and enjoyable course to take after one has obtained their PPL. It allows the holder to fly as pilot-in-command with passengers after sunset.
A Night Rating consists of a minimum of 5 hours tuition.
These five hours must be made up of 3 hours dual tuition, as well as 1 hour of dual navigation. The student must also perform five solo night landings and takeoffs.
Since a Night Rating must consist of 5 hours tuition then it will typically cost in the region of £500 - £700 depending on the flying school.
The Night Rating is avaliable to anyone with a PPL. Unfortunately the Night Rating is not avaliable to NPPL holders.
