2BeAPilot guide you through the whole interview process telling you
what you need to know with some essential advice.
Introduction
Pilot interview techniques will vary between airlines, on the whole the themes are generally the same.
Understanding what to expect and which interview techniques to adopt is essential in being successful.
Preparation
Preparation pays, if you fail to prepare then you are preparing to fail.
Ensure you:
- Do Your Research, find out all about the airline you are applying for.
How big are they? Their history? Where do they Fly? What is their culture? What is their turnover?
- Read your application, you are likely
to be asked about what you wrote on your application. Make sure you remember what you wrote and practice
speaking about it.
- Questions, prepare answers for some of the possible questions
that may arise. Even if they do not occur, it is good practice at answering interview questions.
- Testing, you may be asked to complete a number of numerical, aptitude
and verbal reasoning tests. Take time to practice some online examples before hand. Usually you will be told
what tests you are expected to take on an interview day.
- Supporting Material, compile all documents supporting your application
before hand and remember to take them with you. Do not leave this one until the last minute, or you may find
yourself in a frenzy trying to remember where you last saw your degree certificate.
- Dress, your appearance will provide that important first impression.
Make an effort to dress smart but be careful not to over do it.
- Be Early, it is important to arrive for the interview in a
relaxed state. Struggling to arrive on time will only increase your stress levels. Do yourself a favour,
leave in plenty of time and aim to arrive early.

Interview Style
Creating a good impression is vital in pleasing your interviewers. A good approach can lead a lasting
impression and will no doubt increase your chances of success.
Your fellow applicants are likely to have similar qualifications than you, otherwise they would no be there.
You must make yourself stand out from the croud, make them remember you more than others.
Follow these simple tips to boost your chances:
- Treat people how you would like to be treated.
- Make eye contact with your interviewers.
- Show you are keen, ask questions.
- Talk clearly and don't hold your hands near your mouth.
- If you have to give a presentation, make use of hand/arm movements to stimulate the listeners to
what you are saying.
- Smile, it gives the impression of positivity.
- Be confident, but not arrogant.
Most importantly be yourself, do not try to be someone else. Do not assume you know what the airline
is looking for and then try to imitate it.
